Mainstream yoyos come primarily in two body styles: the smaller “looping” style for fast out-n-back tricks; and larger “string-trick” bodies for landing and intertwining the yoyo on its own string. The YoYoFactory ‘ShapeShift’ gives user’s the ability to morph between each style of play using a simple key. Additionally, by placing each hub in neutral, the yoyo can apply its centrifugal forces on the internal bearings to extend spin time (known as sleeping; which is a key function for string tricks). IdeaWorks worked closely with YYF’s in-house design team to render and animate the functional states where traditional photography faced practical limits.
